Miller Healthcare Dialysis Den

Riverside Miller Healthcare recently added in-house dialysis services for residents and the results have been life-changing.

The addition of this service in the Miller facility has meant residents requiring dialysis no longer need to be transported off-site, receive hours of dialysis and then returned to Miller, a process that could take the entire day. Often, this process would have them returning to the facility late into the night and cause the resident to miss meal times. On-site Dialysis cuts this time more than in half.

"We are thrilled to introduce in-house dialysis services at Miller," said Becky Schiltz, Riverside Vice President of Post-Acute Services. "This addition aligns with our mission to provide comprehensive, patient-centered care. By offering dialysis treatments within our facility, we can ensure that our patients receive the highest quality of care in a comfortable and familiar environment. Our in-house dialysis is a more gentle approach; the treatment plan consists of five days a week, two-hour chair times. This allows recovery within two hours of the dialysis treatment, allowing residents to bounce back more quickly and continue participating in therapy or recreation activities at Miller.”

The in-house dialysis unit at Miller is made possible through a partnership with Dialyze Direct. Dialyze Direct is the nation’s largest provider of staff assisted home dialysis in skilled nursing facilities. The Dialysis Den at Miller is equipped with state-of-the-art technology and staffed by a team of experienced nephrology professionals dedicated to delivering personalized care to each patient.

Dialysis is a critical treatment for individuals suffering from kidney failure, and the availability of in-house dialysis services marks a significant milestone in Riverside’s dedication to meeting the diverse needs of our patients. By bringing dialysis treatments on-site, we eliminate the need for patients to travel to external facilities, offering greater convenience and minimizing disruptions to their daily lives.

"At Riverside, we are committed to continuously expanding our services to meet the evolving needs of our patients," said Phil Kambic, Riverside President and CEO. "The introduction of in-house dialysis at Miller reflects our ongoing dedication to providing accessible, high-quality healthcare solutions that prioritize patient well-being and satisfaction."

In addition to enhancing patient convenience and comfort, the introduction of in-house dialysis services enables Miller Healthcare to optimize coordination of care and improve treatment outcomes. By integrating dialysis into our comprehensive healthcare services, we can facilitate seamless communication and collaboration among healthcare providers, resulting in more effective and efficient care delivery.
