Riverside expands Bourbonnais Campus with permanent imaging technology
April 8, 2025BOURBONNAIS, ILLINOIS — In an effort to benefit both patients and staff, Riverside Healthcare has expanded imaging technology at the Bourbonnais Campus by installing three brand-new medical imaging units that offer quicker results with shorter wait times.
The Riverside Bourbonnais Clinic Imaging Refresh Project consists of a newly constructed 5,000 square-foot imaging suite.
The new PET/CT scanner is the first and only permanent technology of its kind in the region. It offers easier and more timely scheduling options for patients and eliminates the reliance on mobile scanners that visit the area weekly or monthly.
Additionally, new MRI and CT machines were installed.
"Riverside is proud to introduce our new state-of-the-art CT and MRI scanners and the region’s first and only permanent PET (Positron Emission Tomography) scanning technology," said Phil Kambic, President and CEO of Riverside Healthcare. "These cutting-edge upgrades at our Bourbonnais Campus are already elevating the patient experience and equipping our staff with invaluable resources."
The three machines include the Canon Aquilion ONE (CT Prism), the Canon Cartesion Prime (PET/CT), and the Siemens MAGNETOM Sola (MRI).
These scanners offer a variety of diagnostic capabilities, including the ability to diagnose, stage, and plan treatment for patients with various forms of cancer. They also help evaluate and diagnose brain abnormalities, such as tumors, Alzheimer’s disease, seizures, and other central nervous system disorders. Technological advances also equip the scanners for cutting-edge cardiac and neurologic imaging.
“It was time to optimize our patient experience and deliver in-house PET/CT services,” said Garrard Hendrix, Riverside Medical Center’s Nuclear Medicine Supervisor. “Now, we've always provided fixed MRI and CT solutions at our Bourbonnais clinic. However, it's Riverside's principal intent to provide our patients with the most cutting-edge technology as the premier healthcare provider in this county, as well as surrounding communities.”
The new technology relies on AI to enhance diagnostic accuracy, improve patient outcomes, streamline healthcare processes, and foster future innovations.
