2022 Research Symposium


2022 GME Symposium Winners

The 3rd Annual Graduate Medical Education Research Symposium was held at Riverside Medical Center on April 28 and 29, 2022, and showcased the following fields of research: Case Studies, Investigator Initiated Studies, Quality Improvement Studies and Evidence-Based Practice Studies.

During the symposium, 16 posters were presented. The symposium concluded on the 2nd day with an awards ceremony followed by winners announced by Lisa Zipsie, DIO.

The winners for best investigator-initiated research were Stephen Tulley, DO, Irfan Vora, DO and Emma Myers, DO, alongside their primary preceptor, Dr. Samrat Khanna, on their poster presentation titled: The Negative Predictive Value of Hypercapnia in the Diagnostic Evaluation of Pulmonary Embolism.

The winner for the best case study went to Emma Myers, DO, alongside her primary preceptor Dr. Raju Z. Abraham, on their poster presentation titled: Biopsy Site Selection.

The winner for best quality improvement study went to Emma Myers, DO, alongside her primary preceptor Roselle Almeida, on their poster presentation titled: Re-evaluating Oxygen Requirements for COPD Patients to Improve GMLOS.

The winner for the best medical student poster presentation went to Andrew Phillipose OMS-3, alongside his co-investigators Andrew Mariano, DO, Bharat Surani, DO, and their primary preceptor, Arun Jagannathan, MD, for their presentation titled: Out of Control: Thoracic and abdominal aortic mural thrombi in “unreduced” ΔCALR essential Thrombocytosis.

The winner of the best Evidence-based practice poster presentation went to Elaine Papineau, DNP, MS-CNS, APRN-BC, CWCN-AP, for her poster presentation titled: Adoption of Venous Ulcer Guidelines to Improve Healing in Community Hospital Outpatient Wound Clinic.
