A Message from the Psychiatry Program Director:

Dr. Raunak Khisty Welcome! Thank you for your interest in the Psychiatry Residency Program at Riverside Medical Center. We are located in the heart of Illinois, approximately 1 hour from downtown Chicago. At Riverside Medical Center, we believe that life is a remarkable journey and health impacts every step, how we connect with others, how we express our potential and how we pursue our dreams. Our mission is to provide residency training experiences that are just as remarkable. In this environment, you will find attendings of diverse backgrounds and expertise who will guide and mentor you during your training experience to promote your professional and personal growth. Despite being a community program, we provide robust training in psychiatric subspecialties including Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Geriatric Psychiatry, Community Psychiatry, Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry, Emergency Psychiatry and Addiction Psychiatry. We also have opportunities for residents to explore subspecialties such as Sleep and Pain Medicine.

Furthermore, we have an extensive direct curriculum that provides excellent academic training and that is updated yearly based on resident feedback. We strongly believe that a training environment needs to be supportive, allow protected time for education and provides dedicated and quality mentorship. Our residents participate in a rich academic environment and find many opportunities to partner with faculty on research studies and quality improvement projects.

The psychiatry program at Riverside Medical Center is committed to creating a diverse, equitable and inclusive culture for the communities we serve. Respect for human dignity has been central to our core values. Our residency training program reflects this culture and we have created a close-knit, supportive and collegial culture among our residents. The psychiatry residency program is deeply embedded in the local community as we tried to provide increased access for sorely needed psychiatric services. We aim to train psychiatry residents to understand healthcare disparities which disproportionately affect people struggling with a variety of mental illnesses and in turn foster community engagement and commitment to the populations we serve.

If you are looking for a diverse program with a community and family focus along with comprehensive mentorship and clinical training, you are in the right place! We are excited that you are interested in our Psychiatry Residency Program and hope you consider us as you embark on this next phase in your professional journey!
