Psychiatry Curriculum
Residents in the Psychiatry Program enjoy a rotation and curriculum that offers a wide variety of clinical and hospital-based experiences.
Program Rotations:
PGY-1: Inpatient Psychiatry, Internal Medicine, Neurology
PGY-2: Inpatient Psychiatry, Consult/Liaison Psychiatry, Psychiatric Emergency, Community Psychiatry, Geriatric Psychiatry, Child/Adolescent Psychiatry, Addiction Psychiatry
PGY-3: Outpatient Psychiatry
PGY-4: Electives, Administrative Psychiatry, Research, Outpatient Psychiatry, Community Psychiatry, Inpatient Psychiatry
Psychiatry didactics include Biopsychosocial Formulations, Journal Club, Grand Rounds, In-Patient Psychiatry, History of Psychiatry, Neurology, Psychopathology, Substance Abuse Intro, Psychiatric Emergencies, Psychopharmacology Intro, Psychosomatic Medicine, NeuroScience, Intro to Psychotherapy, Eating Disorder Lectures, Forensics, Neurology, Administrative Lectures, and Support Groups.
Psychiatry Call
Psychiatry residents’ calls will be defined as short calls (5 pm—10 pm) or long calls (weekdays 5 pm—8 am, weekends 8 am—8 am, with time for transition of care after each).
- PGY 1 - Residents will take six short calls each month.
- PGY 2 - Residents will take three long calls each month.
- PGY 3 - Residents will take one long call each month.
- PGY 3 & 4 - Residents will be responsible for their own patients Monday - Friday, 9 am through 5 pm, and the attending Psychiatrist on call will be responsible day by day for emergency calls after hours.
