No matter if you have prediabetes or type 1, type 2 or gestational diabetes (which can develop during pregnancy), you’ll find the support and encouragement you need through the Riverside Diabetes Wellness Center. Recognized by the American Diabetes Association, the center offers a unique program focused exclusively on helping you prevent or manage diabetes.

The center brings together a helpful and compassionate team of registered nurses, dietitians, Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialists and insulin pump trainers. With a referral, our diabetes specialists will assess your needs and work with you to create a customized plan for living well and improving your overall health.

Our team will continue to be there to help you stay on track. The center has diabetes education and management resources like classes, support groups and nutritional counseling that can provide extra support on your path to wellbeing.

Diabetes is a disease linked to the endocrine gland. Riverside Medical Group Endocrinology Specialists are board-certified endocrinologists and can be a critical part of your healthcare team. They are specially trained to diagnose and treat diabetes and other conditions, including hormone and thyroid disorders.

Our endocrinologists will partner with you and your other providers to help control your diabetes. And with a focus on prevention, we’ll keep an eye out for any potential complications or issues that might occur. Diabetes: What You Need to Know

About 38.4 million Americans have diabetes, and as many as 8.7 million don’t know they have it. Your risk for diabetes is higher if you:

  • Are age 45 or older
  • Are overweight
  • Are African-American, Hispanic, Latino-American, Pacific Islander or American Indian
  • Have high blood pressure (higher than 140/90)
  • Have low HDL (good) cholesterol (less than 40 for men, less than 50 for women)
  • Have high triglycerides (250 or higher)
  • Have had diabetes when pregnant or gave birth to a large baby (more than 9 lb.)
  • Are active fewer than three times per week
