Pediatric Therapy

Each child has unique needs and goals for therapy, which is why we work collaboratively to make an individualized treatment plan for every child in our care. Licensed Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Speech-Language Pathologists are passionate about pediatric therapy. They are dedicated to improving the lives of their patients and the patient’s families in the Kankakee and Bourbonnais area. Riverside partners with Milestone Therapy to provide pediatric therapy services. Treatment is focused on children ages 0-21.

Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapists work to maximize children’s function by developing the underlying skills needed for learning and performing day-to-day activities at home, in school, and in other social environments. Occupational therapy focuses on improving visual and ­ne motor skills, sensory integration, self-care skills, adaptive play skills, motor planning, and learning healthy behaviors.

Physical Therapy

Physical therapists at Riverside treat various orthopedic, neurologic and chromosomal conditions. Regardless of the reason for therapy, each therapist works to optimize function for every child being cared for. Physical therapists use a variety of treatment strategies to improve static and dynamic balance, strength, muscle length, coordination, and more.

Speech Therapy

Speech-language pathologists are trained in more than just speech disorders. Their expertise includes working with children on cognition and speech delays, reasoning and understanding, language use, fluency/stuttering, voice disorders, auditory processing disorder, oral motor and oral feeding issues, and dysphagia (swallowing). Speech therapists partner with each child and family to set reasonable goals and expectations to achieve maximum benefit from therapy.
