wound care at Riverside

Some wounds require special care to heal. The Riverside Wound Center offers a complete Wound Care Program with many specialized treatments to promote and speed healing for our patients with those needs. For more information, view the Riverside Wound Care Continuum patient information card.

One of the most progressive treatments we offer is hyperbaric oxygen therapy - a very effective way to help the body repair wounds and fight infection. Our Wound Center is home to two state-of-the-art hyperbaric therapy chambers, and our wound care team is trained to deliver this care to qualified patients. Our team prepares the patient and assists them in the chamber during this therapy. While in the chamber, the patient breathes pure oxygen briefly while cradled comfortably in a special chamber pressurized to greater than sea level. This allows extra oxygen to reach all damaged tissues, and the body can support its healing process. The increased oxygen greatly enhances the ability of white blood cells to kill bacteria, reduce swelling and allow new blood vessels to grow more rapidly in the affected areas. It is a simple, non-invasive and painless treatment. Patients can rest, watch TV or sleep while they receive this care.
