Phillip M. Kambic Phillip M. Kambic, MBA, FACHE

President and CEO, Riverside Healthcare

Phillip Kambic began serving as Riverside Healthcare’s President and CEO in January 2006. Mr. Kambic has held various leadership roles, including Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Riverside since 1985. Mr. Kambic received a Bachelor of Science degree from Eastern Illinois University and a Master of Business Administration degree from Governors State University.

Under Mr. Kambic’s leadership, Riverside Medical Center has earned Magnet designation and two re-designations and received multiple IBM Watson Health 100 Top Hospital Awards and 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospital Awards. Riverside has expanded its physical presence and geographic footprint, now serving five counties and doubling its net asset size.

Mr. Kambic has a strong history of service on community and professional boards. He previously chaired the boards for the Illinois Health and Hospital Association (IHA) and Kankakee County Economic Development Association, serves on the Illinois Provider Trust, and is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Kyle E. Benoit Kyle E. Benoit, MHA, FACHE

Senior Vice President, Chief Operating Officer

Kyle Benoit was appointed to his current position in 2019. Mr. Benoit joined Riverside Medical Center as Vice President in 2014 to oversee the strategies for delivery and growth of the surgical and procedural programs. Mr. Benoit previously directed the perioperative services for a Chicago area university hospital and health sciences system. He is a Kankakee native and received his Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences and a Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration from the University of Illinois at Chicago graduating Cum Laude. Mr. Benoit serves on numerous community boards including Bishop McNamara Catholic School and the United Way of Kankakee and Iroquois Counties. He was selected as Kankakee County’s 40 under 40 in 2014 and is an active community member volunteering to serve a variety of organizations. Mr. Benoit is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Patricia K. Vilt Patricia K. Vilt, CPA, MBA, MJ

Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, and Chief Compliance Officer

Patricia (Patt) Vilt was named Senior Vice President and CFO in 2021. Ms. Vilt brings more than 25 years of healthcare finance experience with more than 20 of those in senior leadership positions. She has worked in healthcare finance, including reimbursement, budget, internal audit, and revenue cycle for the hospital and physician network. Ms. Vilt holds a CPA certificate (Illinois) and is a member of the AICPA, American College of Healthcare Executives, and the Health Care Compliance Association (HCCA). She is the board chair for the national board of 340B Health. She is a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) and is the past president of the First Illinois Chapter. She serves on the Finance Committee for Uplifted Care and the Foundational Board for Kankakee Community College. Ms. Vilt earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Indiana University, her Master of Business Administration in Finance from Lewis University, and her Master of Jurisprudence in Health Law at Loyola University School of Law.

Mary Kohl, RN Mary Kohl, RN

Vice President of Clinical Services

Mary Kohl was appointed to her position in January 2023. Mary has a long history of service at Riverside, most recently as Director of Perioperative Services. Mary joined the Riverside Family in 1979 as an OR Nurse and Team Leader. She has held the positions of Director of Surgical Services at Riverside as well as Director of Outpatient Surgical Services at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Mary received her BSN from Olivet Nazarene University. She is a member of the Association of Operating Room Nurses (AORN) and the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA). Mary was born and raised in this community and is passionate about the quality of care and patient experience we deliver every day.

Matthew McBurnie R. Matthew McBurnie, MBA, FCEP

Vice President of Public Relations and Communication

Matt McBurnie was appointed to his current position in 2015. He joined Riverside in 2007 as the Executive Director of the Riverside Healthcare Foundation. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Olivet Nazarene University and his Master of Business Administration from the University of Illinois Chicago. Mr. McBurnie is a board member of Olivet Nazarene University, Municipal Trust and Savings Bank, GatheringPoint Church of the Nazarene, and the Kankakee Riverfront Society. Mr. McBurnie is very active in the community, including previously serving as chairman of the Kankakee County Chamber of Commerce. He was the first to be chosen as Kankakee County’s “Young Citizen of the Year.” Mr. McBurnie is a Fellow in Charitable Estate Planning and an American College of Healthcare Executives member.

Stonewall McCuiston, MD Stonewall McCuiston, Jr., MD

Vice President and Chief Medical Officer

Stonewall McCuiston, MD, was appointed to his current position in December 2022. Dr. McCuiston received his medical degree from the Meharry Medical College School of Medicine in Nashville, Tennessee. He completed his combined internal medicine and pediatrics residency at Cook County Hospital in Chicago. Dr. McCuiston is Board-Certified in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and the American Academy of Pediatrics. He serves as the Riverside Medical Center Medical Director of Resource and Care Management. Professional memberships include the American Medical Association, American College of Physicians, American Academy of Pediatrics, American Association of Physician Leadership and the American College of Physician Advisors. Along with serving on numerous professional committees and community boards, Dr. McCuiston earned Riverside’s Golden Stethoscope Award in 2011, the Garden of Prayer Community Award and the Riverside Samaritan of the Year Award in 2018.

Kathy O'Grady Kathy O'Grady, RN, MSN

Vice President of Nursing and Chief Nursing Officer

Kathy O’Grady was appointed to her position in 2023. Kathy began as the Director of Emergency Services at Riverside in 2012 and, since 2020, has served as Vice President of Clinical Services. As Vice President, her administrative responsibilities have included Ambulance and Emergency Services, Imaging, Lab, Perioperative Services and Recovery. As CNO, she will add Nursing Operations, Inpatient Nursing, Magnet and Clinical Resource Management, and other key duties. Before she joined the Riverside team, Kathy served in leadership roles at Loyola University Medical Center and Good Samaritan Hospital. She has extensive experience as a primary care Nurse Practitioner and has received recognition as a Nurse of the Year and Safety Leader. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Purdue University and her Master’s Degree in Nursing from Loyola University. Locally she serves as the board president for Harbor House.

Rebecca L. Schiltz Rebecca L. Schiltz, PT, MHS, MBA, LNHA

Vice President of Post-Acute Services

Rebecca (Becky) Schiltz was appointed in her current position in 2018. Ms. Schiltz began her career at Riverside in 1994 as a staff Physical Therapist and has since held various clinical and leadership roles at Riverside. Currently, she oversees Senior Life Communities, Behavioral Medicine, Rehabilitation Services, and Home Health Care. Ms. Schiltz earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy from Marquette University, her Master of Health Science degree in Orthopedic Physical Therapy from the University of Indianapolis, and her Master in Business Administration degree from DePaul University – graduating with distinction. She is a Licensed Physical Therapist and a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator in the State of Illinois. Ms. Schiltz is an active community member and volunteers for various local organizations. She is a current member of the American Physical Therapy Association, the Illinois Physical Therapy Association, and a member of the Kankakee Community College Physical Therapist Assistant Advisory Committee.

Dawn Willbarger Dawn Willbarger, MBA

Vice President of Riverside Medical Group

Dawn Willbarger was appointed to her position in 2016. Ms. Willbarger began her career at Riverside in 1992. Throughout her career, Ms. Willbarger has served as Director of Patient Access, Director of Revenue Cycle and most recently, Director of Revenue Cycle – Riverside Medical Group. Ms. Willbarger received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Governors State University and her Master of Business Administration from Olivet Nazarene University. She is very active in volunteering for local organizations, including her service on the Board of Directors and Compliance Committee for Uplifted Care.
