The Riverside Emergency Preparedness Division will ensure, through coordination with Local, County, and State shareholders, that the health system is prepared to respond to and recover from all natural and man-made emergencies. This office will provide the leadership and support to reduce the loss of life and property through an all-hazards emergency management program of mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery throughout Riverside.

Riverside strives to develop and maintain the leading-edge healthcare all-hazards-focused emergency preparedness program that advocates relationships locally, regionally, and statewide.

Partnerships

Riverside Healthcare participates in multiple local and regional committees and coalitions to collaborate in readiness and response to large-scale emergencies, disasters, and catastrophes. Representatives are present at the following organizations:

  • Constellation Braidwood Generating Station
  • Kankakee County Local Emergency Planning Committee
  • Kankakee County Community Organizations Active in Disaster
  • Illinois Mutual Aid Box Alarm System – Division 7
  • Illinois Department of Public Health, Region 7 Healthcare Coalition
  • Illinois Statewide Terrorism and Intelligence Center

Education and Training

Riverside Emergency Preparedness offers staff top-notch resources in collaboration with Kankakee County Emergency Management Agency, Illinois State Emergency Management Agency & Office of Homeland Security, and Federal Emergency Management Agency. Courses are offered to staff in chemical, biological, radiation, nuclear and explosive emergencies, Hospital Incident Command System, and systemic training on internal response plans.
