Riverside has received CARF Accreditation (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities), recognizing our commitment to providing the highest level of neurorehabilitation.

All members of our multi-skilled inpatient rehab team are licensed to provide rehabilitation medicine in Illinois. The staff includes physiatrists, physical and occupational therapists, social workers and speech and behavioral therapists, as well as 24-hour nursing.

Spine Therapy

If you’ve suffered a spinal injury, physical and occupational therapy are essential for regaining strength, mobility and the ability to care for your own needs. Our skilled therapists specialize in a variety of effective methods and treatments:

  • The McKenzie Method: This research-based technique gives patients with spinal injuries the tools for managing their symptoms on their own at home.
  • MedX©: At the Riverside Atrium, patients have access to this specialized exercise machine, which targets spinal muscles and speeds recovery following an injury.
  • Aquatic Therapy: Warm water therapy in the pool at Riverside Health Fitness Center is a unique form of spinal therapy that relaxes sore muscles, too.
  • “Return to Work” program: Riverside Medical Center offers a focused occupational therapy program for patients recovering from spinal injuries who need to regain strength and flexibility to perform their jobs.
  • Pain management: Patients with chronic spine pain can be referred to our pain management program, which includes exercise and education. Our therapists are also trained in the advanced manual technique called myofascial release, which is proven effective for pain that doesn’t respond to other treatments.
