Helping More Patients Ring the Bell
January 25, 2024Thanks to an outpouring of support from our philanthropic community, The Riverside Cancer Institute launched its second TrueBeam Linear Accelerator on Monday, July 17 at the Betty Burch Bridgewater Center—dramatically increasing access to the latest advancement in radiation therapy for local patients.
With unmatched precision, TrueBeam technology attacks cancer cells with shorter treatment times and fewer sessions as well as minimized side effects and damage to healthy tissue. It can target When our furry, four-legged “employees” are spotted in the halls of Riverside, it instantly brightens the day. Our volunteerled Animal Ambassadors Program, a fan-favorite among staff and patients alike, organizes therapy dogs to help raise spirits and relieve the stress and anxiety of recovering from illness or injury. The program recently graduated five new pups—including that of a familiar Foundation face, Nicole Burgess, as her dog Lola is ready to begin making her rounds! If you’re interested in volunteering with your dog, Wagging Tails, Bringing Joy Helping More Patients Ring the Bell multiple tumor sites in a single visit and provide clearer images with less radiation and stress on the body.
Now, patients battling cancer will experience a more comfortable healing journey. And those with complex cancers, for whom radiation may not have been an option previously, can receive the care and treatment they need to fight back.
