About Your Stay

At Riverside Healthcare, the comfort, safety and care of our patients are our top priorities. Providing superior care, exceptional service and outstanding patient experiences is our passion. To help you prepare for your stay with us, here’s some information we’d like to highlight.

Admission

We realize you may be nervous when you first arrive at Riverside for care. That’s why we aim to make the admission process as efficient and easy as possible. These details about admission and pre-registering will help you save time and make your stay more comfortable.

What To Bring

For your comfort and safety, we ask that you bring any personal items you’ll need during your stay, including sleepwear, toiletries, eyeglasses, hearing aids and dentures. Please also bring a list of all medications you are taking and be sure to note any allergies you have. Find out just what to bring—and what is best to leave at home.

Amenities

To make your stay as comfortable and pleasant as possible, we offer many patient services. A bedside phone, TV and free wireless internet access are some of the comforts of home provided in patient rooms. And because private rooms are shown to help the healing process, all rooms in our new East Tower 5th floor are private and roomy enough to comfortably accommodate your family members. Our Family Birthing Center is designed to enhance the birthing experience with state-of-the-art technology and a homey environment that may make you forget you’re in a hospital. Other amenities at Riverside include a pharmacy, a gift shop, spiritual support and a relaxing healing garden. You’ll find a complete list of services here.

Food and Nutrition

Not only is good nutrition critical to your recovery, but we also want you to enjoy what you eat during your stay. A Riverside catering associate will stop by each day to collect your meal choices. Meals are typically delivered to your room at around 8 a.m., 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. See the variety of dining options we offer.

Your Safety

At Riverside, your safety is of utmost concern. We make every effort to help protect patients from safety risks, such as falling and infections. As a patient, you also play an important role in your own safety and protection. Please get involved in and stay informed about your care—and don’t be afraid to ask questions or voice concerns. Also, follow these best practices to prevent falls and infections. Your family members, too, can play a big part in protecting you and other patients from catching an infection. Here are some steps they can take to help prevent the spread of illness.

Your Rights and Responsibilities

Every patient at Riverside has certain rights in accordance with state and federal law, such as the right to be respected as an individual deserving competent, private and compassionate care. We developed our list of Patient Rights and Responsibilities to reflect our values of partnership, integrity and excellence, and to indicate the quality of care you can expect from us. Heading Home

Our goal for your discharge from our care is to make the process as smooth and efficient as it was when you arrived. You’ll get the all-clear to go home when the providers involved in your care are confident you’re ready to leave—and that it’s safe for you to do so. If you need further care before going home, our social services specialists or nurses will help you plan for this. And before you go, we’ll give you written or electronic instructions for your medicines, activities and follow-up appointments. Find more on discharge planning here.
